Yellow alert for Kolhapur, Sangli, Satara & Solapur

KOLHAPUR: The India Meteorological Department, Mumbai, has issued a ‘yellow alert’ for Kolhapur, Sangli, Satara and Solapur districts of South Maharashtra for two days starting Wednesday. Yellow alert means moderate to heavy rain in isolated places accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds.

While some crops are sprouting, some have gone into the advanced stage of growth. In both the cases, the requirement of water is more and, therefore, the farmers are eyeing for good spell of rain to ensure the crops grow properly and yield good harvest.

The early sown crops are now in the fruit-bearing stage. Farmers having such crops are worried as they are already facing infestation problem along with heavy rain and gust winds in the last few weeks. The agriculture department has issued an advisory to such farmers to ensure that their field does not get waterlogged. They have also been advised to make way to drain out excess water from their fields.

Meanwhile, cloudy skies were witnessed in Kolhapur city on Tuesday. The temperature had slightly increased in the afternoon. However, as the day progressed, dark clouds gathered in the sky on Tuesday evening, but there was no sign of rain.

Mahindra in talks to buy 500 acres of land for mega industrial park

Pune: Arvind Subramanian, MD, and CEO of the real estate developer Mahindra Lifespaces stated that the business is in talks to purchase over 500 acres of property along the Pune-Solapur Road to create an industrial park while also looking into various residential projects throughout the city's price ranges.

“We are in discussions to acquire more land parcels for residential projects in Kharadi, and we are also in talks to acquire a total of 500 acres for an industrial park in the Pune-Solapur Road area. This area will serve as an alternative to areas such as Chakan, and the Pune-Solapur Road area already has a good industrial infrastructure, including in the MIDC areas. We will be ready to launch it in two to three years,” Arvind said.

Speaking during the opening of the Mahindra Nestalgia residential development in Pimpri, which was situated on a three-acre plot of property owned by another Mahindra group firm, was Arvind. According to him, the two-phase, 500-unit project spread across three acres should be finished by 2027 thanks to Mahindra's estimated Rs 300 crore investment in Nestalgia.

“We do projects that have ticket sizes between Rs 35 lakhs to Rs 3 crores per unit. Customers across all ticket sizes are increasingly buying homes from reputed and organised developers, and even for the Nestalgia project, pre-booking demand has been strong. There has definitely been a shift of demand to the formal sector, particularly after RERA,” he said.

The "50 to 100% cost escalation" in building, he continued, has led the company to choose a sharper design, greater equipment investment, as well as an increase in home pricing, sometimes by approximately 8% – 10%.

Punyashlok Ahilya Ahilyadevi Holkar Solapur University (सोलापूर विद्यापीठ) exam confusion continues. MA Urdu was added to this series of confusions. During the exam, the students were given a question paper containing a handwritten manuscript and answer marks. The MA Urdu subject is in the language complex of the university department.

There are twenty students for this. Even for the students of the first and second grade, nowadays hand-written question papers are not given. This is a university. There is a typing system for this in the examination section. There is trained manpower. There is also funding for this. But this form of drawing a handwritten question paper was made customary by Solapur University.

Just like the MSc mathematics question papers were handwritten. Similarly, the question papers of MA Urdu are also handwritten. This kind of signing of the answer on the question paper itself happened in nursery, not for the children of the first second grade, in the examination of the second year of the university's post-graduate degree examination. Who will think about how much the students who pass by studying will be suffering from such a thing?

"Strict action will be taken The university has taken a serious note of the manner in which students have already been given to solve the paper which has already been marked on the question paper. This is a very wrong type. We are taking strict action." - Dr. Mrinalini Fadnavis, Vice-Chancellor, Solapur University

"Take responsibility for the mistakes The university's series of examination messes are going on. Taking cognizance of this, it is pursuing for action against those found guilty of this continuous practice. The university should also take precautions to avoid frequent mistakes." Praniti Shinde, MLA.

The series of confusion continues The confusion continues in the exams that began on July 14. In the ideal answer sheet of NTC's microwave subject, 24 answers were wrong, confusion in the MSc mathematics question paper, the old syllabus question paper for MA, MSc, BA Marathi in the university itself, the handwritten question paper for BSc Mathematics, the question paper of the payment subject of civil engineering was not removed. The question paper of IT subject of engineering was received without any option.
